Rodrigo Machado

Biologist

PhD in Animal Biology (2017) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Master's in Biology: Wildlife Diversity and Management (2013) from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS).

With a Postdoctoral Fellowship (2019–2024) in the Graduate Program in Socioeconomic Development (PPGDS) at the University of Southern Santa Catarina (UNESC-Criciúma). He is a research professor and extensionist in the Department of Biological Sciences and a collaborating professor in the Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences (PPGCA) at UNESC. He leads the Interdisciplinary Research Group in Human Ecology and Marine Biodiversity Conservation (GIPEMar), conducting research in marine ecology, marine mammal biology and conservation, marine litter pollution, fishery biology, artisanal fishery management, and socioeconomic development. He collaborates with the Marine Management, Ecology, and Technology Group (GTMar/UDESC), the Aquatic Mammal Study Group of Rio Grande do Sul (GEMARS), and the Ocean Human Ecology Research Group (UFES).
