Bárbara Manhães
Biologist
Holds a degree in Biological Sciences (Licentiate) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a master's degree in Oceanography from the Graduate Program in Oceanography at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (PPG-OCN UERJ), and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Currently, she is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Oceanography at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) in the Department of Chemical Oceanography and a researcher affiliated with the Laboratory of Aquatic Mammals and Bioindicators "Izabel Gurgel" (MAQUA-UERJ). Her main area of expertise is the ecotoxicology of marine organisms and environmental health. She has experience in the analysis of various environmental contaminants, such as trace elements (mercury and selenium), organochlorine organic compounds (PCBs and pesticides), organobromine compounds (PBDEs, MeO-BDEs, HBBZ, PBEB), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), with a focus on the conservation of nektonic organisms.
