2nd Edition of the Gephyreus Project Newsletter is now available!
The new edition of the Gephyreus Project Newsletter brings together the main advances and actions carried out throughout 2025 for the conservation of Lahille’s bottlenose dolphin.
Among the highlights are the publication of the first study applying an “epigenetic clock” to the species, the release of the documentary Garbo — which portrays the historical cooperation between dolphins and fishers in Laguna (SC, Brazil) — and the international workshop organized by the International Whaling Commission (IWC), held in Santos (SP, Brazil), which reinforced the importance of trilateral cooperation in cetacean conservation.
The edition also presents the results of the 10th synchronized monitoring cycle of Lahille’s bottlenose dolphin, details of the project assessing the impacts of climate emergencies in Rio Grande do Sul, and new partnerships with Biosonar in Santa Catarina and with Argentine institutions that resumed monitoring of Lahille’s bottlenose dolphin after 10 years.
